Hitu, a complicated economy

Hitu is an Island located at the end of the Cassamance Stream in the Region of Cassamance. It has approximately 1000 folk. There is of course, no electricity or running water, as in most of the towns of the country.

In this island there were no primary school, which implied that children were out of college in his early years, and therefore, it was awfully difficult for them to enter higher college. There are no digital marketing plans for this area even for calling for aids that could help to improve the quality of live of the populations in this area.

Improving the knowledge

With the purpose of bettering the daily lives of the inhabitants of the islands of Hitu it's a necessity to build the infrastructure required for an elementary school and, on the other hand, to work the public awareness to foster care youngsters to college.

The association Yakaar Africa will provide enough material to build the high school. This attempts to involve the people and to prove that improvements are also in their hands. Another line of work will try to get the co-operation of the govt to provide school teacher and finally awareness of the people, as already discussed.

The drive is going to be follows-up by partners in Senegal, in coordination with delegates of different groups of folk. With the development of this school this non profit organisation hopes to promote cultural development in the hamlet to the next generation better educated may face further improvements in the village.

Good perspectives

Today the college is a reality in Hitu and the government of Senegal has involved sending two teachers who teach nearly forty children from 3 to 5 years living on the island. Step by step education will give a new future to their economy, improving the rent and increasing life levels.
